6 rooms apartment of 850m² in Cluj-Napoca

Wow! I realize now I was uttering this silly word throughout the house visit (what the landlord must think of me...). Built by one of the premier Romanian architects of his period - Ion Mincu - in the classic Romanian style, this monument is grand in a style that is really impossoble to duplicate today - techniques and expertise have been lost forever. House sits on a large plot with a garden in the back and a carriage house (good for two cars) on the side with an apartment upstairs. Front door opens up into a large reception from which four large rooms are accessed as well as a kitchen in the back looking out onto the back garden. Upstairs on the first floor are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the top floor are three more bedrooms. All of the original elemants of this house have been maintained, thanks to the fact that the house was an embassy durring the communist period and thus out of reach for "remodeling" and grand theft by party officers for their weekend homes. Landlord was open to some improvements when I visited. The Icoanei neighborhood is our favorite in the city thanks to the vibe that comes from the mix of interesting people who live out here (French speaking pensioners and young media types), special historic architecture and proximity to the cultural heart of the city. Good restaurants in the area as well as two parks, a metro station (Romana) and a good Farmer`s Market.
